Less than a year after Sound Transit’s 2 Line started service, two new light rail stations are coming to Redmond May 10, 2025. With the Downtown Redmond Station situated directly on the Redmond Central Connector, Eastrail Partners is coordinating a series of bike rides from throughout the regional trail system, all leading to the Downtown Redmond Station, where Move Redmond is throwing a giant party celebrating the new connections between trails and transit. We’re inviting trail and transit enthusiasts alike to dust off your biking shoes, pump up your tires, and ride your bike to the new light rail on May 10!

With support from Cascade Bicycle Club‘s experienced ride leaders, and our friends at Eastside Urbanism, there are a variety of ride options, each with different paces and distances. Check out the list below, and keep an eye out over the next few weeks as more rides get added. Be sure to RSVP to the ride you’re interested in and come to the Eastrail Partners booth after you’ve arrived for some special-edition swag and treats just for you!

Rides:

• Magnuson Park to Redmond: 20 Miles at a Steady pace (12-14mph), almost entirely on trails around the North end of Lake Washington
• Overlake to Downtown Redmond: 7 Miles at a Leisurely pace (10-12mph), exploring trails and bike lanes throughout Redmond
• Idylwood Park (Redmond) to Downtown Redmond: 14 Miles at Leisurely pace (10-12 mph) along West Lake Sammamish and NE Bellevue
• Totem Lake to Redmond: Join Eastside Urbanism as they lead a leisurely ride on the Eastrail through Kirkland and Redmond to the Downtown Redmond Light Rail Station.

Can’t join an organized ride? You can still bike to the light rail on your preferred route. There will be free bike valet parking, food, entertainment, and, of course, light rail! Check out Move Redmond’s event page to see all the awesome things happening to celebrate the opening.
