The Eastrail is more than just a trail–it’s a place to build community. And that’s just what happened during our free summer events on the trail that drew from 50 to 160 attendees each.

Our first event was on July 12th when the 24 Madison Band performed a free concert at Feriton Spur Park in Kirkland. The band’s eclectic sound filled the park and drew an appreciative crowd. It was great to see neighbors, trail users, and music fans stopping during their evening runs, walks, and bike rides along the trail. 

The Youth Music Showcase on July 19th featured performances from Castrati, Maddie Ward, and Sasha Tai. The audience enjoyed a beautiful summer evening while listening to a lineup of talented up-and-coming musicians. 

Our Cross-Cultural Celebration on July 26th featured performances by local groups and showcased how sharing and celebrating our cultures brings us together. There were musical performances, a cross-cultural fashion show, henna art, dance performances, and storytelling. The event was part of our Cross-Cultural Arts project, in partnership with Eastside for All, which brings together different community groups to envision cross-cultural public art along the Eastrail. 

Our last summer event on the Eastrail was August 5th as Storybook Theater in the Park presented two performances of Rapunzel at Feriton Spur Park. Despite a little rain, families walked, biked, and rolled on the Cross–Kirkland Corridor of the Eastrial to enjoy this popular story performed by local thespians.

We look forward to having more events like these to bring our community together on the trail. In the meantime, the Eastrail is a unique place for everyone every day to connect, unwind, exercise, and enjoy nature.
