Eastrail Partners was excited to bring another season of summer concerts directly to the trail in Kirkland this July. The Feriton Spur Amphitheater hosted four Wednesday evening performances, spanning genre, language, age, and cultures from around the world. Community members came out to enjoy the performances on the lawn, and many trail users paused during their run or bike ride to enjoy some free entertainment in the sun. Bringing unique, enriching experiences to trail users and the community is part of our ongoing mission to make the Eastrail for everyone, every day.
Below are some highlights from this year’s performances:
We kicked off the summer with an interactive, engaging performance curated by our friends at Africans on the Eastside, featuring drumming from JHP, and a fashion showcase from Ayo Collections. This partnership was built out of the work we did last summer as part of our cross-cultural arts project, and we are grateful to continue to make space for cross-cultural performance on the trail.
For the second year, we were excited to feature several youth performers from the Eastside and beyond. This year, Sasha Tai, Jolene Ku, and Sophia Shoshana (and her band) all brought excellent performances that drew quite a crowd of people getting off their bikes and enjoying the sets from the grass.
For our third week, People of Flow brought their interactive, multilingual style to the Amphitheater and had audience members dancing, drumming, enjoying the vibes throughout the evening.
For our final performance of the series, we welcomed Roemen and the Whereabouts to Feriton for their first time, and they did not disappoint, with two hours of retro soul music that brought out our biggest crowd of the season!
Eastrail Partners is grateful to again have the support of SRM Development, who provide the funding for this concert series, as well as all of our performers. We hope to bring back summer concerts in 2025, so please keep an eye out for lineup announcement next spring.
